Disclosure & Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

The short version

Sawdust Math currently carries no advertising and no affiliate links. No company pays for the calculators, the reference charts, or the sources they cite, and no company pays to be mentioned, ranked, or linked.

How the content is made

Every calculator starts from published formulas and reference data, such as the USDA Forest Products Laboratory Wood Handbook and woodworking safety guidance from the American Association of Woodturners, and is checked against independent hand calculations before it ships. Each tool page lists its sources. Where a number is a rule of thumb rather than a measured value, the page says so.

If that changes

If we ever add advertising or affiliate links, this page and the Privacy Policy will be updated before the change goes live. Any paid link will be labeled where it appears, will sit next to a plain-language disclosure, and will not change what a calculator computes.
